I’d like to share my vision for the city of Hayward. I am a Real Estate Broker. My Hayward firm focuses on land use and planning. I have rehabilitated some of the most dilapidated properties in the city of Hayward. I am an environmentalist. I have given away 30,000 trees to the community. I serve in the Hayward Rotary club. I serve on the board of directors for the Hayward Area Planning Association HAPA.
I was also appointed by the Mayor and City council to be a founding member of the Keep Hayward Clean And Green Task Force where I formed the cities first sustainability committee.
I have earned a reputation as a tough negotiator. I also have a reputation of honesty, unrelenting determination and high value representation. I believe that these are qualities that can serve the city well as a councilmember.
It was through my position as the chairman of the city of Hayward sustainability Committee that I learned of the threat of the fossil fuel fired power plants planned in Hayward. I have since spent over 400 hours of my time and thousands of dollars of my money to try and protect our community from these throwbacks to the grey industrial economy of the last century
I tried unsuccessfully to convince our city council to not give our Shoreline to Calpine for this ecolological disaster. We are poised to become one of the top 5 polluters in the Bay area. Higher then some refineries. In addition to the myriad of poison gases, the incumbent approved plant will infect our air with 172,0000 pounds of particulate matter Per year. That’s 1.2 pounds for every man woman and child in the city of Hayward. It contain Arsenic, lead, mercury, formaldehyde, ammonia, acrolein and some stuff I cant even pronounce.
If we elect or reelect anyone who would allow this in our community then I guess we’ll get what we deserve. Make no mistake If we are the heart of the bay than this is a heart attack. This will create a health crisis in our community. People will die. Every one of our property values will decrease and informed people with choices will leave our community.
Cities all around us are some of the greenest in the nation. That means that they are profiting greatly by moving away from the old hunter gatherer methods for energy production to one of energy farming. Imagine if the value of our PGE bills stayed in the community. This is the new economy. It is the answer to our budget problems and unemployment. It is what Hayward must do to thrive. This represents Haywards greatest opportunity and our civic duty. We need to create renewable energy in Hayward for Hayward.
When elected I will also stop the ridiculous one way loop around downtown plan and replace it with logical traffic solutions that add value to our community like a new BART station at Mission And Harder Down from the University by Kmart.
Thank You.
